Orlando Police Officer Michael Fiorentino-Tyburski was under investigation over the incident that happened back in January, according to WFTV. Internal Affairs concluded the Fiorentino-Tyburski did not break the law by not calling 911 and not doing a report because property damage was less than $500. He was suspended and was docked 88 hours of pay by the department.
Video of the incident shows Tetris Nunn being hit by the vehicle and the officer stopped and talked with the victim. Soon after though, Fiorentino-Tyburski left the scene and didn’t call 911 to get help for Nunn’s leg injury.
Earlier this year, WESH reported that the investigating officer said the 36-year old Nunn was at fault for crossing the street against the crossing signal, but Fiorentino-Tyburski was found at fault for leaving.
Nunn reportedly borrowed a cell phone to call 911 while still lying on the sidewalk and police radio calls indicate dispatchers had to ask the officer if indeed he was the one who hit the pedestrian. He responds with a question.
"We were just trying to find out if that was you?" the dispatcher said.
"I'm not there anymore. Who called it in?" Fiorentio-Tyburksi asked.
